Weight Loss Drinks to Make at Home

If you've already heard of detoxification and have already dismissed the idea of eating nothing but organic produce and grains for the remainder of your life, you can still give short-term detoxification a shot by turning to detox tea. Detox teas are brewed for herbs and other organic plant compounds careful selected for their specific cleansing properties. There is detox tea which can target accumulated toxins in the intestines, kidneys, liver, lungs, and even skin, stimulating those organs so that they can once again function properly as the body's excretory system.

You can find many varieties of detox tea at your local health food store, or you can make your own suited to you particular detoxification needs. If you choose to go with a ready-made detox tea, check over its list of ingredients and make sure there is nothing in them which would cause unpleasant side effects. But that's usually not a problem because almost every detox tea has been formulated to cleanse your system and optimize your health.

Detox Tea Ingredients
Some detox tea is classified as a blood purifier, and includes ingredients like yellow dock, red clover, as sarsaparilla rot. It will not only cleanse the blood; it will stimulate circulation, carrying nutrients and oxygen throughout the body.

A detox tea formulated to support liver, spleen, and gall bladder function contain milk thistle and dandelion root, while burdock is used in detox tea for its kidney cleansing properties and its ability to both neutralize and eliminate toxins.

If you want to detoxify your lungs, look for detox tea containing fenugreek tea, and borrow a page from the ancient Egyptians' recipe book by drinking detox tea with hibiscus flower to soothe your digestive tract. Ginger root detox tea is an all-around detoxifier, purifying the kidneys, intestinal tract, and even the skin. Echinacea will cleanup the lymphatic system, strengthening the immune system in the process, and licorice root makes a delightfully sweet detox tea for those trying to detoxify from a nicotine habit.

Homemade Detox Tea

You can make an entire day's supply of an excellent detox tea by boiling two quarts of water in the morning, and making a mix of one-half tablespoon whole coriander, one-quarter tablespoon of whole cumin, and one-half tablespoon of whole fennel. Place the mix into a tea ball, and suspend it in the water (which you have removed from the heat) for between ten and fifteen minutes, keeping it covered so the delicious flavor does not escape in the steam. Pour it into a container, and enjoy hot or cold throughout the day!
